I need a portfolio

I realized recently that I needed to make a port folio. I do think I can do free lance photography with proper training but this is something I'm terribly afraid to do. I have been pondering over the idea of doing some professional photography but I have so many doubts and worries. Like for example, my equipment is not good enough for the standards of the industry and I don't think I am good enough too. But however by looking at the work of some professional photographers out there I think I can be a professional too, Haha. Another thing worries me is that everyone seems to think that I must be a marketeer or something like that to have a future, but I don't know. I feel like I have to be in the creative industry, art is something that I love doing.

I thought of just giving photography a try by applying for a job placement in SPH, as recommended by a good professional photographer. But the problem now is that I have to make a port folio, and I have simply no idea how to go about doing it. I don't have model like friends "no offense to anyone". Moreover, the photo shoots organized by online forums are down right sleazy, it's all like lingerie shoots or bikini shoots, I am surprise as to what passes off as photographers nowadays. So if anyone reading this wants to be a model or has friends who want to be models please let me know. I will help them to do their portfolios and create mine in the mean time. Man i really need a portfolio.
