Chinese New Year

Traveled around the in church van for Chinese New Year today, I must say it was really tiring. The process of meeting my relatives is starting to take a tow on me. They talk about the most MORBID things, for example. My mom refers to one Auntie of hers, the immediate reply from my Oldest Aunt (In Hokkien)"Die already la, so long ago die already." Then when my mom talks about her uncle, "Die already la, that one just die, cancer." Then another aunt cuts in "No la, old already what, so is natural death." Yet another one cuts in "Die is Die lor, Die is no more lor, don't talk so much la"

And that depicts what the conversations were like for the whole day. I felt as it death was just like "leaving the country" by the way my aunts refer to it. But I must also comment, my family is rather interesting, well at least they don't compare results and stuff. However, they do repeat the same joke every year hoping that everyone has forgotten about it.

This year we didn't go to the cemetery, not that I don't respect the dead but... Thank God. It was so hot can. Machiam ozone layer bo liao. So when my mom said we were going home after visiting my relatives, I was like PHEW... Oh well, this ends my day of "GONG XI FA CHAI"

Word of the day "HUAT"
Verb: It means to experience good fortune; to inherit great wealth in a short period of time. Used in the sentence: Jack Sparrow found the hidden treasure and exclaimed "HUAT AH"
